OUR ADVENTURES
EXPLORING THE BEAUTIFUL
SOUTH ISLAND, NEW ZEALAND.
One of our crew, Adriana and her little family headed off on an epic month long mission down south in the summer. Here's a little of their story.
We had an idea to take our little boy on an adventure around the South Island - having a toddler stuck in the car for a 5000km trip may not have been the best idea! But oh how it was worth it. They say collect memories, not things so that's exactly what we did. We hit the road with a Backcountry Camper in tow and headed south.
We went with the aim to explore some of the most remote and untouched places we could find and head back to the place we called home when we first got married - Beautiful Central Otago. We never had a plan set in stone on where we would camp for the night, just made it up as we went. Camping really is the perfect escape from everyday life. Camping in the South Island - It doesn't really get better than that. There's so many lesser known spots that you can have all to your self.
We ventured through the backcountry, taking the back roads roaming through mountains and lakes. We were absolutely stoked with the camper as our adventure set up. We could explore as much as we want, knowing we had everything right where we needed it when we found that sweet spot to camp. All we had to do was park up and take it all in. Having those little life luxuries while out camping was an absolute game changer.
You know you're onto a good thing, when you're planning the next adventure before you've even finished the one you're on!

A Kiwi Classic
RECIPE: CAMP DAMPER
2 cups Plain flour (Main)
3 tsp Baking powder
½ tsp Salt
½ cup Water
¼ cup Neutral oil
Combine the flour, baking powder and salt in a large bowl. Combine the water and oil, add to the dry ingredients and mix to form a soft, pliable dough (if it is crumbly add a little more water).
Take small handfuls of mixture and shape thinly around non-toxic sticks.
Cook over the embers of a fire, turning, until the outside is golden and the damper comes off the sticks easily (about 15 minutes).
Drizzle a little butter and honey, golden syrup or jam into the hole where the stick was and eat while hot.
ENJOY!
